Watch: Trevor Bauer reads Happy Mother’s Day letter in heartwarming video

Cleveland Indians starter Trevor Bauer shared a heart-warming Happy Mother's Day video on Twitter.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer has a toughmindedness about him on the baseball field, but he pulled back the curtain to show his softer side over the weekend.

In a heartwarming video, Bauer wished his mom, Kathy, a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, especially you Kathy!” Bauer wrote to accompany the video. “I love you and am looking forward to another great year together! #mothersday @mlb @Indians @Watch_Momentum @MLB_PLAYERS.”

During the video, Bauer read a letter he wrote his mother, mentioned all of the times she helped him, whether it be during school or through baseball and shared photos from his childhood as b-roll for the message.

“Dear Mom, Thank you for your selflessness,” Bauer began. “You raised me to be the man I am today with no expectation of anything in return.

“Thank you for all of the hours you spent watching my practices as a kid. You always kept my best interest at heart, even when you put me in timeout and laughed about it. Thank you for all of the back scratches and head rubs and late-night laughs, but more than anything, thank you for being one of my best friends and my biggest supporter.

“I love you. Thank you, mom.”

Since being acquired in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks following the 2012 season, Bauer has compiled a 62-47 record (.569 winning percentage) with a 3.85 earned run average over 947.1 innings pitched in 165 games, including 155 starts. Bauer has registered 981 strikeouts and nearly 100 more innings pitched than hits allowed.

This season, Bauer is 4-2 with a 3.02 earned run average over 59.2 innings of work in nine starts for the Indians. He has registered 72 strikeouts against 27 walks, six home runs, 23 runs, 20 of which were earned, and 39 hits allowed.
