The 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be held in the birthplace of Rock and Roll in July, so what better way to celebrate that with a musical twist?
MLB is seeking remixes of its classic anthem "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" as part of its MLB Remix powered by SoundCloud national contest. Fans will have their own opportunity to put their own personal spin on the song and possibly win some great prizes.
The entries, which can be submitted starting today, will be judged by a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee based on "creativity, instrumentation, and performance." The grand prize winner will receive a trip to Cleveland for the All-Star Game and other festivities, and will even get to perform their version of the song at PLAY BALL PARK.
MLB Director of Events Jacqueline Secaira-Cotto released the following statement:
"With music being a central theme during the 2019 MLB All-Star Week, the MLB Remix contest is a great way for music creators to gain exposure while also celebrating baseball. We are excited to have SoundCloud and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame join the process of making the contest wide-reaching, and we are looking forward to hearing the winner perform at PLAY BALL PARK in Cleveland."
There are two ways to enter:
- Upload the remixed song to SoundCloud, or to a file hosting service, and post their public song link to a Twitter or Instagram account and include the contest hashtag, #MLBRemix in their post. Participants can also upload their song directly to their Twitter or Instagram.
- Participants can also submit their song link on mlb.com/mlbremix
All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. eastern daylight time on June 13.
