CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers hung tough. But at a certain point the talent disparity was too much for them to overcome.
In what was officially a rematch of the past four NBA Finals, the Cavs fell to the Golden State Warriors 129-105 at Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday night. Cleveland trailed its former foe by just four points with less than two minutes remaining in the third quarter, but was outscored 34-19 in the fourth it what wound up another Golden State rout.
All-Star guard Stephen Curry scored 42 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while dishing 7 assists and Kevin Durant added 25 points for the 2-time defending NBA champions. Rookie point guard Collin Sexton led the Cavs with 21 points, while Jordan Clarkson added 17 off the bench.

1:44: Warriors 84, Cavs 80: Despite the Warriors going up by 9 on a Kevin Durant jumper, the Cavs aren't going away. Collin Sexton hits a jumper, Alec Burks adds an and-1 and Clarkson adds a layup as Cleveland pulls within 4.
4:11: Warriors 77, Cavs 73: Cavs still hanging tough, but six straight points by Golden State (Iguodala dunk, Durant jumper, Jordan Bell make) gives the Warriors a 2-point lead.
8:42: Cavs 67, Warriors 67: Warriors come out with a stronger effort than they had to close the first half. We're all tied up here after a 9-3 Golden State run.
Halftime: Cavs 64, Warriors 58: Incredible sequence to end the half as Collin Sexton hits a pair of 3s, Cedi Osman adds another and Rodney Hood hits a buzzer beater jumper to give the Cavs a 64-58 lead heading into halftime.
2:53: Warriors 53, Cavs 48: Golden State still ahead, but the Cavs are hanging tough. Curry up to 22 points, but Rodney Hood has added 13 and Larry Nance Jr. has provided 9 off the bench to keep Cleveland within striking distance.
6:38: Warriors 42, Cavs 39: Cavs come out strong with a 10-0 run to start the quarter and regain the lead. Golden State, however, fights back with its own run, as Jonas Jerebko scores 6 points off the bench to put the Warriors back ahead.
End of quarter: Warriors 31, Cavs 25: Warriors take a 6-point lead into the second quarter behind 16 first-quarter points from Stephen Curry, who went 4-for-5 on 3-point attempts.
1:56: Warriors 26, Cavs 21: And that's why they're the Warriors. Steph Curry with 15 points as Golden State roars back to take the lead with what has ultimately amounted to a 24-9 run.
6:14: Cavs 14, Warriors 13: Cavs jump out to a 12-2 lead (no really), but can only hold off the Warriors for so long. Rodney Hood with 11 of Cleveland's first 14 points, but the Cavs only lead by one midway through the first.
