Cleveland Cavaliers' J.R. Smith takes shirt off, pokes fun at his Game 1 blunder in 'Grinch' ad

Poor J.R.!

Cleveland Cavaliers' guard J.R. Smith has learned to roll with the punches.

Smith's blunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals last season has continued to plague him in internet memes and fan jokes. It's now often referred to as "The J.R. Smith Game."

Now, Smith has joined the fun, even at this own expense, as seen in an advertisement for the new "The Grinch" movie scheduled to hit theaters next month.

Smith begins the ad by sitting at a cafeteria table, where he immediately takes his shirt off, a nod to a memorable stretch in Summer 2016 when Smith was rarely seen wearing a shirt while celebrating the Cavaliers' NBA Championship.

Smith receives a phone call from The Grinch, who mocks his Game 1 blunder. Watch the ad, as seen on Smith's Instagram page, below:

If you somehow missed Smith's infamous blunder, here's a quick recap: Smith lost track of the score, thinking the Cavaliers were ahead when he nabbed a rebound and ran the ball out as regulation time expired during Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

The meme-worthy moment followed as teammate LeBron James held his arms out in disbelief, questioning Smith's decision. Smith thought the Cavaliers were up by one point, though the score was actually tied.

That sent the game to overtime and the Cavaliers never recovered, falling, 124-114.
