Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Kyle Korver was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame and had his jersey retired by Creighton University.

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Kyle Korver received two of the highest individual honors a school can bestow upon a former athlete, as he was inducted into the Creighton University Athletics Hall of Fame.

Along with his former coach, Dana Altman, Korver was honored by Creighton at the Marriott Capitol District Hotel in Omaha last Saturday night.

“Thank you, Creighton Bluejay men’s basketball for all you’ve done for me,” Korver tweeted Wednesday. “Thank you Coach Altman. Thank you to all of my teammates. I love being a Bluejay.”

In addition to inducting Korver into the Creighton University Athletics Hall of Fame, the school announced that his No. 25 jersey has been retired.

A two-time regular-season and tournament Most Valuable Player in the Missouri Valley Conference, Korver played at Creighton from 1999-2003 and is the only player in school history to make four trips to the NCAA Tournament, as well as earn four victories over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Korver is one of six players to earn consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honors, and that is a list which includes Boston Celtics legend/National Basketball Hall of Fame player Larry Bird.

During his final year at Creighton, Korver was selected by collegeinsider.com as the Mid-Major National Player of the Year after setting school single-season records with 129 three-pointers, as well as three-point and free-throw percentages while averaging 17.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Korver still holds Creighton and Missouri Valley Conference records for career three-pointers made (371), and ranks top 10 in school history in several other categories including first in both three-pointers attempted and free-throw percentage, third in three-point percentage, fifth in steals and sixth with 1,801 career points.

A second-round pick of the then-New Jersey Netsin the 2003 NBA Draft, Korver is the only player ever to lead the NBA in three-point percentage four times and is fourth in league history with 2,213 career three-pointers made.

Acquired by the Cavaliers in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2016-2017 season, Korver has made 261 of his 576 three-point attempts (45.3 percent), 353 of his 753 field goal tries (46.9 percent) and 78 free throws on the way to 1,045 points over 2,433 minutes of play with Cleveland.

Additionally, Korver has been a part of Eastern Conference Championship teams in each of the last two seasons.
