Cleveland Cavaliers survive blown lead, beat Orlando Magic 104-103

LeBron James is 25 points away from becoming the seventh player in NBA history to score 30,000 career points.

CLEVELAND -- After leading by 23 points earlier in the game, the Cleveland Cavaliers trailed the Orlando Magic for the first time all night with 31.5 seconds remaining on the clock. A pair of Isaiah Thomas free throws, however, put the Cavs back on top and were enough for Cleveland to squeak out a 104-103 victory, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Thomas led the Cavs with 21 points and LeBron James added 16 points to go along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds as he is now 25 points shy of the 30,000 career mark. Elfrid Payton scored 19 for Orlando, with Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon each adding 17.

Fourth quarter

7:41: Cavs 93, Magic 88: Magic hanging around, but Cavs getting some key minutes from their bench, including Derrick Rose, who just converted a nice contested layup.

10:53: Cavs 88, Magic 80: Cavs continue their run, now up 8. Jeff Green with some big minutes off the bench for the Cavs.

Third quarter

End of quarter: Cavs 84, Magic 80: Magic had tied the game at 80, but Cavs ended the quarter with four straight points and a nice defensive stand. We'll see if it carries over into the fourth.

1:09: Cavs 80, 78: It is now a 2-point game, with Orlando ultimately on a 20-6 run.

4:05: Cavs 79, Magic 70: And we have a ball game. Magic now in the midst of a 12-5 run, with their most recent basket coming on an alley-oop to forward Aaron Gordon.

6:35: Cavs 74, Magic 58: Cavs keeping it going and doing what they need to do to get their starters some much needed rest. Kevin Love already has a double-double with a team-high 12 rebounds and 10 rebounds.

Second quarter

End of quarter: Cavs 67, Magic 47: To their credit, the Cavs haven't let up or lost focus yet. James has 10 points and 6 assists, despite being 0-4 from the free throw line. Isaiah Thomas has added 8, while Magic point guard Elfrid Payton has scored 11 points.

2:48: Cavs 59, Magic 40: Cavs continue to pour it on, with the starters now back in the game. James has 8 points and with a blowout already in process, it appears unlikely he'll play the entirety of tonight's game.

7:59: Cavs 48, Magic 30: Cavs' bench unit keeping it moving, with Dwyane Wade leading the way with 8 points. Wade just slammed home a dunk, prior to a Magic timeout. Rose with 4 quick points for the Cavs as well.

First quarter

End of quarter: Cavs 36, Magic 20: Great quarter for the Cavs, who take a 16-point lead into the second quarter. Derrick Rose appears to be getting set to play in his first game since Nov. 7.

1:01: Cavs 32, Magic 20: The Cavs are doing a really great job moving the ball, particularly James, who has 4 assists including one that is likely to make Sportscenter.

2:40: Cavs 28, Magic 14: Cavs off to a hot start on both ends of the court. James has a quick 6 points and 3 assists, while J.R. Smith just picked up the 2,000th assist of his career.
