Lunch With A Legend: Former Cleveland Cavaliers stars Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson to headline special event

It's an invitation-only event at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is putting on Lunch with a Legend this Thursday and will be featuring a pair of NBA Champions in former Cleveland Cavaliers Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye.

Lunch with a Legend will take place at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland beginning at 11:30 a.m. and is an invitation-only event. Jefferson and Frye were both in their first year in Cleveland when the Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA Finals in a thrilling seven-game series against the Golden State Warriors. The two have an uncanny connection that dates back to their younger days as both attended the University of Arizona in the early 2000s, just missing being teammates by a season.

The luncheon will be hosted by Serena Winters, Bally Sports Ohio Cavaliers Sideline Reporter, and she will conduct a live interview touching on both of their NBA careers and their foray into the media world as NBA analysts and hosts of their podcast, “Road Trippin.”

Jefferson’s NBA career spanned 17 seasons across eight different teams. He was on a New Jersey Nets team that reached the NBA Finals in his first two seasons in the league, but lost each year and did not return to the Finals until his first season with Cleveland in 2015-16. In the 2016 NBA Finals, Jefferson played in all seven games while starting Games 3 and 4. He averaged 24 minutes per game in the series.

As for Frye, he spent a total of 13 seasons in the NBA and is best known for his time with the Cavaliers and with the Phoenix Suns. During the 2016 playoff run, Frye’s outside shooting was an important factor in sweeping the Atlanta Hawks in the second round and defeating the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Warriors, however, were a tough matchup for him to stay on the floor against, as he played just 33 minutes in the first four games of the series before not playing in the final three games.
