YPSILANTI, Mich. — Malique Jacobs scored 17 points and Cleveland native Tervell Beck and Solon's Sincere Carry each scored 11 points, helping Kent State beat Eastern Michigan 56-47 Tuesday night.
The Golden Flashes (9-8, 4-3 MAC) led by nine at halftime in holding the Eagles to a season low 17-point first half. Reserve Bryce McBride was the Eastern's only double-digit scorer with 20 points.
While neither team was exactly stellar offensively, KSU still shot 43% from the field to earn its second straight win. By contrast, EMU (7-9, 2-3) made a mere 26% of its shots and only 3 of 24 from 3-point range.
The Eagles are coached by Stan Heath, who led the Flashes to an historic Elite Eight run back in 2002. This was Heath's first time coaching against his former team since leaving Kent for Arkansas after just one season.
Kent State will be back in action Friday night when it travels to Buffalo.
