Cleveland State men's basketball falls 57-56 to Northern Kentucky on buzzer-beating 3

After making a defender miss, the Marques Warrick launched his last shot from the edge of the midcourt logo and drained it to give NKU the victory as time expired.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Marques Warrick scored 19 points and hit a long 3 at the buzzer as Northern Kentucky stunned Cleveland State 57-56 Thursday night in a battle for a share of first place in the Horizon League.

Warrick was 6 of 8 shooting, including 4 for 5 from distance, and went 3 for 4 from the line for the Norse (12-8, 7-2 Horizon League). After making a defender miss, the junior launched his last shot from the edge of the midcourt logo and drained it to give NKU the victory as time expired.

Sam Vinson scored 16 points and added five assists. Xavier Rhodes shot 3 for 5, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc to finish with eight points, while adding five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Tristan Enaruna led the way for the Vikings (11-9, 6-3) with 15 points and four steals, but also missed 1 of 2 crucial free throws just prior to Warrick's buzzer-beater. Cleveland State also got 11 points and three steals from Drew Lowder. In addition, Tujautae Williams finished with nine points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Their three-game winning streak now history, Cleveland State will conclude its four-game road trip Saturday night against Wright State. The Raiders boast an identical 11-9 record, but are just 4-5 in conference play.
