CLEVELAND — A matchup of two of the Horizon League's best women's basketball teams turned into a laugher almost from the opening tipoff.
Cleveland State dominated Youngstown State 81-48 Saturday afternoon at the Wolstein Center, scoring 13 straight points off an initial 1-0 deficit and never looking back. Amele Ngwafang led the way with 21 points and 15 rebounds (her third straight double-double), and Destiny Leo added 18 points while going 12 of 12 from the field.

The Vikings (21-3, 12-2 Horizon League) dominated on the glass 55-32, and also made 76.5% of their attempts from the charity stripe. By contrast, the Penguins shot a paltry 32.3% from the field and turned the ball over 19 times.
The rough shooting night was evident in the stat sheet, with Dana Jarrells and Emily Saunders leading YSU (16-7, 10-4) with eight points apiece. The Penguins have now lost two in a row to fall from a share of first in the conference. They are two games behind first-place Cleveland State.
Cleveland State currently sits alone atop the Horizon League, with Green Bay a half game back before playing Oakland tomorrow. The Vikes will end their homestand Tuesday afternoon against Chicago State.
