Game preview

Less than a week since being on the wrong end of one of the best games of the 2020 NFL season, the Browns will look to bounce back against a Giants team just one game back in the NFC East standings. But while New York remains in playoff contention, it enters Sunday night shorthanded, with star cornerback James Bradberry missing the game after being placed on the COVID-19 list and quarterback Daniel Jones questionable with an ankle injury.

Should Jones be unable to play, Cleveland will be facing a familiar face in Colt McCoy. What's more is that former Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens will be calling the offensive plays for the Giants on Sunday with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett missing the contest after testing positive for the coronavirus.

While the Browns can't officially clinch a playoff bid this weekend, a win over the Giants would virtually guarantee that Cleveland will be ending the NFL's longest active playoff drought (17 years). A loss, however, could put the Browns' postseason quest in danger, making Sunday arguably the most important game that Cleveland will play all season.

Prediction

Baker Mayfield builds on his big showing vs. Baltimore and takes advantage of a depleted Giants defense. Using the script for success they've followed through much of the season, the Browns build a big lead early and use their running game to grind down the clock in the second half.

Final score: Browns 31, Giants 23
