Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. responds to critics after commitment gets questioned

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. went on a Twitter rant in response to people questioning his commitment to the team while with the New York Giants.

CLEVELAND — New Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. makes no apologies for being a passionate football player, and sometimes, that emotion comes out when he gets questioned on social media, as was the case on Monday night.

When questioned about his commitment to the New York Giants and not travelling with the team while working his way back from an injury, Beckham Jr. responded swiftly and in detail.

“Ask the coach….” Beckham Jr. tweeted. “I begged him to go to each and every one of those games actually for my teammates and to be on the sideline for the home games…he told me, “No”….anything else sir.

“That’s to whoever tweeted asking why I didn’t travel while I was hurt….) next.”

When Beckham Jr. received backlash for his comments, he responded once again.

“That’s all,” Beckham Jr. said. “When I want to voice my opinion (like everybody else can do) and back myself up, it’s a problem. Like I’m supposed to get walked over forever! ‘Shut up and dribble,’ No sir. Not me.”

Before going on a rant, Beckham Jr. tweeted about receiving the kind of news that brightened his day..

“LISTEN PSA….I am having one of the best days of my life,” Beckham Jr. said. “I have gotten some of the greatest news! So don’t play with me because I’m shooting back, for all the haters out there that want a response!! TODAY IS THE DAY MY FRIEND.

“What you don’t understand!!!!!! I’ve never been in a place so happy in my life. My soul, my spirit is at an all-time high!! Say what you want, there is NO bringing me down .. PERIOD.”

The Browns are hoping the good teams keep on rolling for Beckham Jr. they have seen the kind of productivity he delivers on game day.

Over 59 regular-season games, including 56 starts, in five years with the Giants, Beckham Jr. turned 622 targets into 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns. Beckham Jr. averaged 92.8 yards per game, including a league-best 108.8 during the 2014 season.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Beckham Jr. has put together four 1,000-yard and three double-digit touchdown seasons since being selected with a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Louisiana State University.

Last season, Beckham Jr. turned in a 77-catch, 1,052-yard, six-touchdown effort for the Giants.
