Baker Mayfield has never been shy about betting on himself.
But when it comes to choosing his team in Madden 20, the big time gamer will have extra incentive to stick with the Cleveland Browns.
With the annual E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) taking place in Los Angeles, details have begun to emerge regarding the latest edition of football's most famous video game. And among the revelations that manufacturer EA Sports has made is Browns' team rating in the game, which according to ShackNews.com will be a robust 87.
The Browns' 87 team rating for this year's game marks their highest since the 88 they received in the Madden '09 game, which was released following Cleveland's last winning season in 2007.
For comparison's sake, the highest rated team in last year's Madden 19 game was the Philadelphia Eagles, who laid claim to a 90, with the New England Patriots ranking second at 84. Coming off an 0-16 season in 2017, the Browns entered last season with a Madden score of 74 -- just two points higher than the New York Jets, who were the game's lowest-rated team.
Plenty, of course, has changed since then, including Mayfield's emergence as a franchise quarterback, Pro Bowl seasons from Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward, running back Nick Chubb rushing for 996 yards and of course, the offseason acquisition of star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. At the end of the 2018 season, the then-New York Giants standout possessed a 96 overall rating, making him the fourth-highest wide receiver in the game.
Mayfield, meanwhile, saw his rating rise from an 81 to an 83 over the course of a rookie season in which he amassed an NFL rookie record 27 touchdowns. Mayfield -- and all other players' -- ratings won't be unveiled until closer to the game's release in August.
