Cleveland Browns have attracted plenty of bets as 2018 season nears

According to ESPN, there are more bets on the Cleveland Browns to win the AFC North than the three other teams in the division combined.

The Cleveland Browns went 0-16 in 2017. But that hasn't stopped them from becoming a popular bet in Las Vegas.

According to ESPN's David Purdum, the Browns have received plenty of action at sportsbooks as the 2018 season nears. So much so that at 60-1, Cleveland has received more Super Bowl bets than the Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars -- who each made the playoffs a season ago.

Perhaps even more impressively, there have been more bets placed on the Browns to win the AFC North than the other three teams in the division -- combined. And when it comes to winning the AFC, only the Oakland Raiders have received more bets at Caesars Palace.

"The Browns are our only liability right now," Jay Rood, MGM's vice president of race and sports, told Purdum of his book's Super Bowl odds. "We're sitting pretty well on every other team except Cleveland."

Of course, it helps that coming off of what was just the second 0-16 season in NFL history, the Browns' odds come with favorable potential payouts. In addition to its 60-1 Super Bowl odds, Cleveland possesses 20-1 odds to win the AFC and 7-1 odds to win the division, according to Caesars.

Perhaps the safest bet for the Browns, however, comes in the form of the team's over-under win total for 2018, which currently sits at 5.5 games.

Over the course of the past two years, Cleveland amassed a 7-24-1 record against the spread while recording a 1-31 record straight up. Many, however, are hoping that 2018 will be the year the Browns' betting fortunes turn.
