Between the emergence of Baker Mayfield and acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr., the Cleveland Browns have received no shortage of hype this offseason.
The betting market has reflected as much.
On Wednesday, online sportsbook Sportsbetting.ag revealed which NFL teams have received the most bets to win Super Bowl LIV, which will crown the league's champion for the 2019 season. And despite being 12 years removed from their last winning season, the Browns top the list, edging out the two teams who met in last season's AFC Championship Game in the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots.
That the Browns have received the most Super Bowl bets doesn't necessarily come as a surprise. In fact, ESPN reported last August that Cleveland -- which at that point was coming off an 0-16 season -- had received the most bets to win the AFC North, as well as more Super Bowl bets than several more established contenders.
But whereas last year, it was the potential 60-1 payout that was enticing bettors to make what were ultimately unsuccessful wagers on Cleveland, the bets being made on the Browns this year seem to be more serious. Following its 7-8-1 season in 2018, Cleveland opened with 25-1 odds of winning Super Bowl LIV in January, a number that has since shrunk to 14-1 following the team's March acquisition of Beckham from the New York Giants.
To put that number in perspective, the Browns currently have the fifth-best odds of winning Super Bowl LIV. The defending champion Patriots, at 7-1, are the current favorites.
But while Cleveland has received the most Super Bowl bets, the most money has been placed elsewhere. Per the same site, the most money to win the Super Bowl has been bet on the Patriots, with the Indianapolis Colts (14-1) and Chicago Bears (14-1) ranking second and third.
As for the team's that have received the fewest Super Bowl bets this offseason, Sportsbetting.ag says that honor belongs to the Tennessee Titans (50-1) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (66-1) and Carolina Panthers (50-1) trailing behind.
