Watch: Cleveland Browns intercept Baker Mayfield to set up first touchdown of season

Grant Delpit intercepted Baker Mayfield to help set up the Cleveland Browns' first touchdown of the season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On a new t-shirt released ahead of his Week 1 matchup vs. the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield promised to be "off the leash."

But so far, Mayfield has hardly had much freedom vs. his former team.

Through the first two quarters of action, the Browns have gotten to Mayfield early and often. The former No. 1 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft's struggles were highlighted when he was intercepted by Cleveland safety Grant Delpit while facing a third and 10 from Carolina's 20-yard line with 12:33 remaining in the second quarter of the Week 1 contest in Charlotte.

On the ensuing possession, Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett rushed for two yards before running back Nick Chubb ran for a five-yard gain. On third-and-three from Carolina's 35-yard line, Brissett then threw a deep pass to wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was interfered with by Panthers cornerback C.J. Henderson in the end zone.

The penalty gave Cleveland the ball at Carolina's 1-yard line, with Brissett finding running back Kareem Hunt -- who initially lined up at fullback on the play -- for a touchdown pass to give the Browns their first score of the season as they took a 7-0 lead over the Panthers following a Cade York extra point.
