Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett not practicing Thursday; could still play vs. Falcons

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is not practicing on Thursday after being in a car crash on Monday.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was back at the team's facility on Thursday -- just three days after he was involved in a car crash in Medina County.

But while the All-Pro defensive end won't be participating in the Browns' practice for the second straight day, defensive coordinator Joe Woods isn't ruling out the possibility of his star player taking the field for Cleveland's Week 4 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

“Myles won’t practice today, but I know it is going to be a day-to-day thing," Woods told reports. "There is a chance [he plays vs. Atlanta], but it will be based on what the medical staff says."

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski echoed a similar sentiment when asked about Garrett's playing status on Wednesday.

"I'm not ruling anybody out on Wednesday," Stefanski said. "We'll do what we always do, take in information every day."

On Monday, the 26-year-old Garrett was involved in a single-car crash in Medina County while driving his Porsche 911 Turbo S on State Road just south of State Route 18 in Sharon Township. Garrett lost control of his vehicle, which proceeded to drive off the road and roll over multiple times, with the three-time Pro Bowl selection suffering a shoulder sprain, biceps strain, minor lacerations and "some bumps and bruises to various other body parts," while a 23-year-old female passenger suffered a "minor head injury."

According to a crash report, Garrett was unable to recall exactly how he traveled off the roadway. He said that he was accelerating up the hill and observed a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction but did not make any type of swerving maneuvers to avoid striking the other vehicle.

The Texas A&M product added: "I don't know if something came, I moved out the way of that," before describing that his vehicle began going to the left, then right and he lost control and traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that it had issued Garrett a citation for failure to control his motor vehicle, with unsafe speed for the type of roadway being traveled appearing to be a contributing factor in the crash. On Wednesday, 3News' Phil Trexler reported that prior to Monday's crash, Garrett had been stopped for speeding seven times in Northeast Ohio since first being drafted by the Browns with the No. 1 overall pick in 2017.
