BEREA, Ohio -- Texas is a hotbed for football talent, and the Cleveland Browns went to that rich tradition from “The Lone Star State” for a pair of signings on the second day of training camp.
The Browns signed defensive lineman Zaycoven Henderson and wide receiver Blake Jackson, the team announced during Friday afternoon’s practice session at team headquarters in the Cleveland suburb of Berea.
A 6-foot-1, 305-pound defensive tackle out of Texas A&M, Henderson registered 111 total tackles, including 21.5 for lost yardage, and 8.5 sacks, recovered two fumbles and forced one fumble during his career with the Aggies.
Henderson is a native of Longview, Texas.
A product of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (NCAA Division III), Jackson is in the process of transitioning from quarterback to wide receiver. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Jackson is in his first NFL season after passing for 4,311 yards and 49 touchdowns over 39 career games at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Jackson earned Most Outstanding Player honors in the 2016 Stagg Bowl after leading Mary Hardin-Baylor to the NCAA Division III National Championship.
The Houston, Texas native spent time in the Canadian Football League before signing with the Browns.
