Gun parts and ammo found in car of Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Callaway during marijuana citation

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway was cited for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license in Strongsville early Sunday morning.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway was cited for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license.

Now we know the rookie wideout also had gun parts in the car when he was pulled over in Strongsville early Sunday morning.

On Wednesday, TMZ released the dashcam video of Callaway's traffic stop, in which the officer recognizes Callaway as a Browns receiver. Noting that the car smelled like marijuana, the officer says he was "real nervous" when he spotted a backstrap of a Glock firearm and several rounds of ammo in the car.

Although Callaway admitted to owning a gun, he said that the firearm itself wasn't present in the vehicle. The 21-year-old also said his car had just been shipped to him from Florida and that he was unaware the marijuana that was found under his seat was present in the vehicle while he was driving.

Callaway was cited for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license, with a court date for the offenses scheduled for Thursday. That just so happens to be the day of the Browns' preseason opener, in which they will take face the New York Giants.

It appears Callaway will be rescheduling his court date, as he will in fact be making the trip to New Jersey, per multiple reports. On Tuesday, it appeared as though the Browns were unaware of Callaway's incident, as the rookie took reps with Cleveland's first-team during practice.

“Obviously, I am just now finding out about it," head coach Hue Jackson said after practice. "We will have a very strong conversation about it. Let me find out all of the facts – everything that went into it – and then go from there.”

The Browns selected Callaway out of Florida in the fourth round of this year's draft with the No. 105 overall pick. Considered a first-round talent to some, Callaway slid to the fourth round due in large part to a litany of off-field issues throughout his college career and a failed drug test at the NFL Scouting Combine.
