Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett speaks out at Feed The Need food giveaway

Garrett weighed in on giving back, team support during his indefinite suspension, and the upcoming Steelers game.

OHIO CITY, Ohio — This morning, Ohio City restaurant TownHall sponsored its 7th annual “Feed the Need” Thanksgiving dinner giveaway.

Cleveland Browns players lined up, put their gloves on, and served up smiles to underprivileged kids in the form of a Thanksgiving meal. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, 3News special correspondent Emily Mayfield, served as the hosts of the event.

“Both of us are very fortunate to be in the position that we’re in. So to be able to give back just a little bit, I know it doesn’t do it justice, but to try and give back as much as we can is very important,” Baker told Emily.

Browns defensive dnd Myles Garrett hasn’t been seen much since “the incident” with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph that resulted in his getting an indefinite suspension from the NFL, but he was all smiles and beyond happy to make plates of food for kids.

“It’s a blessing. To lighten up their lives and their day, there’s nothing better than that,” says Garrett.

3News asked Garrett his thoughts on seeing Browns co-owner Dee Haslam wearing his number on her hat this past weekend.

“That was beautiful. I didn’t get to see it myself, I saw some pictures second-hand, but it got me right in the heart. I felt that,” says Garrett.

We also asked him his thoughts on the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Garrett smiled and said simply, "I think we’re gonna win and that’s it."

The “Feed the Need” event was more than a plate of food and a piece of pumpkin pie. There were opportunities for kids to take pictures with Santa, superheroes, and local professional sports team mascots.
