What follows is a timeline of Beckham's career in Cleveland:

March 12, 2019

After weeks of speculation to open the 2019 offseason, the Browns acquire Beckham in a trade with the New York Giants. In exchange for the then-26-year-old wide receiver, Cleveland sends New York first and third-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft and safety Jabrill Peppers. The trade is later folded into a larger deal with the Browns sending guard Kevin Zeitler to the Giants in exchange for defensive end Olivier Vernon.

April 1, 2019

The Browns host an introductory press conference for Beckham, with head coach Freddie Kitchens, quarterback Baker Mayfield, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and defensive end Myles Garrett in attendance for the event.

"I think this moment is going to be more iconic than we all realize right now," Beckham said. "We want to look back in 10 years and be like, ‘Man, I remember April 1, 2019. That was the start of something great. I’m just happy to be a part of it."

May 30, 2019

After Beckham opts to only attend one of the Browns' 10 optional organized team activities (OTAs), Kitchens acknowledges that his new star wide receiver missed "a lot" by not being at the team's headquarters in Berea.

Specifically: "The offense," Kitchens said.

Aug. 20, 2019

Beckham appears on the cover of Sports Illustrated's NFL preview issue alongside Landry, his college teammate at LSU.

"The Browns are back," the headline reads, with the issue predicting that Cleveland will win its first division title since 1989.

Sept. 8, 2019

Beckham catches seven passes for 71 yards in his debut for the Browns -- a lopsided 43-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans at FirstEnergy Stadium.

More notably for some, he creates headlines for wearing a $190,000 Richard Mille designer watch during the game.

Sept. 16, 2019

After receiving no shortage of attention for his wristwear vs. the Titans, Beckham dons a different Richard Mille watch during pregame warmups ahead of the Browns' Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Jets -- this one valued at $2 million.

Despite having to miss a few plays due to the tint of his visor, the LSU product catches six passes for 161 yards and a touchdown -- including a highlight-reel worthy one-handed grab and an 89-yard score -- in Cleveland's 23-3 victory at his former home stadium.

Sept. 18, 2019

After receiving two weeks' worth of attention regarding his wristwear, Beckham inks an endorsement deal with watchmaker Daniel Wellington

"There's always a method to the madness," Beckham tells reporters of the deal. "This partnership with Daniel Wellington, I'm really happy to do that. Again, I'm off of the -- the watch topic, I'm going to leave it alone. I'm just strictly on football. Now you know Daniel Wellington, so that's the bottom line. I'm not talking about watches anymore."

Sept. 29, 2019

Beckham is held to two catches for 20 yards in the Browns' 40-25 win over the Baltimore Ravens. In the third quarter of the contest, the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year gets involved in a scuffle with Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey in which Humphrey appears to have choked Beckham.

Oct. 13, 2019

Beckham catches six passes for 101 yards in Cleveland's 32-28 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. It would prove to be Beckham's final 100-yard receiving game as a member of the Browns.

Dec. 5, 2019

Asked about his future with the Browns following a 20-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Beckham offers a vague outlook.

"No one knows what the future holds tomorrow. I couldn't tell you what's going to happen," he says. "I couldn't sit here and tell you whether I'm going to be here, want to be here, don't want to be here.

"This is exactly where I'm at now and I wouldn't rather be anywhere else. God has a plan. In the offseason, everything will figure itself out."

Dec. 8, 2019

Hours ahead of the Browns' 27-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Beckham has been playing through a sports hernia injury throughout the season.

Dec. 15, 2019

Beckham and Kitchens get into a heated exchange on the sideline during the Browns' 38-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which dropped Cleveland's record to 6-8 and effectively ended its bid for a playoff spot.

In the days following the loss, multiple reports allege that Beckham had told opposing players to have their teams try to trade for him, using the phrase "come get me" during games.

Dec. 29, 2019

Beckham catches three passes for 81 yards in the Browns' Week 17 loss to the Bengals, bringing his totals for the season to 74 catches for 1,035 yards and six touchdowns.

After the game, Cleveland fires Kitchens, who amassed a 6-10 record in his lone season as the Browns' head coach.

Jan. 13, 2020

Beckham attends LSU's College Football Playoff Championship Game victory over Clemson in his hometown of New Orleans. After the game, he makes headlines for handing out cash to LSU players on the field, which constituted an NCAA violation.

Three days later, an arrest warrant is issued for Beckham after a video showed him allegedly slapping the butt of a security officer in the locker room during the postgame celebration. The officer ultimately opts not to press charges.

Jan. 22, 2020

Speaking to reporters at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, new Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski says that he'll meet with Beckham in the coming days to discuss, among other topics, his behavior at the national title game.

"I'm looking forward to sitting down with Odell face to face," Stefanski said. "I haven't had the chance to do that yet and I get the chance to do that tomorrow. And at that point, that's when I can start laying out my expectations for Odell and all of our players."

Asked specifically about Beckham handing out money to players on the field, Stefanski reiterated: "Again, we'll talk about that and lay out our expectations for our guys and how we want them to conduct themselves."

April 30, 2020

Amid trade speculation, new Browns general manager Andrew Berry stresses that Beckham is a part of Cleveland's long-term plans while appearing on NFL Network's Good Morning Football.

"This is actually a topic, at least from our perspective, there really hasn't been a ton of ambiguity," Berry said. "We've been clear from the beginning that we view Odell as a fantastic player. We're a better team with him on the field. We see him as a long-term member of the organization."

May 5, 2020

In a video posted to his personal YouTube page, Beckham touts his lofty expectations for the 2020 campaign as he continues to rehab from his offseason surgery.

"I would honestly say this is probably going to be one of my best seasons," Beckham says. "Bigger, stronger, faster. This is my time."

Oct. 4, 2020

Following a slow start to the season, Beckham catches five passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns and rushes twice for 73 yards -- including a game-clinching 50-yard touchdown run -- in Cleveland's 49-38 win over the Dallas Cowboys. With the win, the Browns advance to 3-1 on the season.

Oct. 25, 2020

Beckham suffers a season-ending torn ACL chasing down an interception in the first quarter of the Browns' 37-34 win over the Bengals. He finishes the 2020 campaign having caught 23 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns in seven games.

Jan 20, 2021

After the Browns finish the season with an 11-5 regular-season record and win over the Steelers in the AFC Wild Card round, Berry disputes the notion that Cleveland's offense was better without Beckham.

"I do think that there's an element of our offense just evolved over the course of the year," Berry said. "I think that's really independent of Odell. I've said multiple times, Odell's a good football player. He acclimated nicely with our program, with Kevin, with his teammates. Quite honestly, I just want as many good football players on the roster as possible. And he's dynamic."

Beckham, meanwhile, admits that it was "bittersweet" watching his team succeed without him.

July 25, 2021

Speaking at his annual youth football camp in Northeast Ohio, Beckham offers a positive outlook for the 2021 season.

"There's just something that feels special about this team," he says. "Cleveland needs a championship, and I think that's the goal, that's the mentality in that building, and that's what I want to be a part of."

Sept. 26, 2021

After missing the first two weeks of the season as he continued to recover from his ACL injury, Beckham makes his 2021 debut by catching five passes for 77 yards in a 26-6 win over the Chicago Bears.

Oct. 14, 2021

After tallying two catches for 27 yards in a win over the Minnesota Vikings and two catches for 20 yards in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Beckham admits he'd like to see more passes thrown his way

"I can't sit here and lie like I don't want the ball," Beckham said. "They don't pay [Brooklyn Nets All-Star guard] James Harden for his defense. He's a shooter. I feel like I'm a shooter."

The disconnect between Mayfield and Beckham seems especially apparent in the fourth quarter of Cleveland's win over the Vikings, in which the two players made different reads on a coverage, resulting in a would-be game-clinching pass falling incomplete.

Oct. 17, 2021

Beckham leaves the second quarter of the Browns' 37-14 loss to the Cardinals with a shoulder injury but ultimately returns to finish the game with five catches for a season-high 79 yards. He fights through the injury to play four days later vs. the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, catching two passes on six targets for 23 yards with Case Keenum getting the start at quarterback for an injured Mayfield.

Oct. 31, 2021

Beckham catches one pass for six yards on his only official target in Cleveland's 15-10 loss to the Steelers, which dropped the Browns' record to 4-4. It is later reported that Beckham requests a trade following the game, two days ahead of the NFL's trade deadline.

Nov. 2, 2021

Hours ahead of the 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, Beckham's father, Odell Beckham Sr., posts an 11-minute and 24-second long video clip of Mayfield missing his son on various throws throughout the 2021 season. Beckham's friend and NBA superstar LeBron James also takes to Twitter to implore the Browns to "free OBJ."

The trade deadline passes without the Browns making a deal.

Nov. 3, 2021

The Browns excuse Beckham from Wednesday's practice. Stefanski tells reporters that Berry is in the midst of discussions with Beckham's representatives regarding his future.

Asked about a report that he told his team that Beckham was no longer a member of the Browns roster, Stefanski says: "Today he's excused and we'll see where this goes."

Speaking to reporters after practice, Mayfield says that while he was surprised by the video posted by Beckham's father, he wasn't hurt by it. As for whether he'd welcome Beckham back, the fourth-year quarterback replies: "I would take anything to have a winning team right now. Our focus needs to be on winning. Anything like this, stuff created on the outside drama-wise, takes away from the focus, attention to detail that we need to have."

Nov. 4, 2021

The Browns excuse Beckham from Thursday's practice. Beckham Sr. doubles down on his criticism of Mayfield with another Instagram post shouting out the creator of the video he created earlier in the week.

Browns safety John Johnson III says that the "majority" of the Browns' locker room would welcome Beckham back.

Nov. 5, 2021

After coming to an agreement on a reworked contract, the Browns place Beckham on waivers, ending his time with the team. Should he go unclaimed, he will be free to sign with any team as a free agent as early as Monday, Nov. 8.

Speaking to reporters following his team's practice, Berry says that the decision to release Beckham wasn't only because of the video posted by his father.

"To be honest, this really isn't about the video," Berry said. "It is about, really, a series of discussions, really certainly over the last week, but even spanning back longer than that. And at times, I do think that there is -- whether you want to call it a level of frustration -- that exists that just really makes it difficult to have productive reconciliation."
