Former Browns tight end Kellen Winslow II has been arrested in connection with a residential burglary in Southern California, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The incident allegedly occurred Thursday in a trailer park in the San Diego suburb of Encinitas. A resident told police he say a man he didn't recognize walk into a neighbor's mobile home, and the suspect drove away in a black SUV after the witness allegedly confronted him.

Winslow was later "positively identified" as the suspect, sheriff’s Lt. Karen Stubkjaer told The Union-Tribune. The 34-year-old was being held on $50,000 bond as of Thursday night.

The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Sr., Winslow was the sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft and played five seasons in Cleveland, including a Pro Bowl campaign in 2007 that saw him catch 82 passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns. He also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, and New York Jets, and finished his 10-year career with 25 scoring grabs.

However, his tenure with the Browns was also plagued by injuries (including a motorcycle accident that cost him the entire 2005 season) and attitude problems, along with never-ending questions of "What if?" after the Pittsburgh Steelers took quarterback Ben Roethlisberger five spots behind Winslow in the same draft. After a 2008 season that saw Winslow vocally blast then-general manager Phil Savage and the Browns organization, he was traded to Tampa Bay for two draft picks.

Winslow's attorney Harvey A. Steinberg released the following statement to The Union-Tribune:

Mr. Winslow emphatically denies committing any burglary. He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park. He looks forward to being vindicated once this matter is fully investigated and adjudicated through the court system.

This is not the first time Winslow has had a run-in with the law: He was previously charged with drug possession back in 2014, although he later received a conditional discharge without a guilty finding.
