BEREA, Ohio -- One day after making his Cleveland Browns' minicamp debut, Odell Beckham Jr. will face the media.

Beckham, who the Browns acquired in a trade with the New York Giants earlier this offseason, will meet with reporters after his new team's minicamp session on Wednesday afternoon. The 3-time Pro Bowl selection's media availability is scheduled to take place after practice, which is expected to end around 4:30 p.m. ET.

One topic of conversation figures to be Beckham's prolonged absence from Cleveland's optional organized team activities last month. After attending the first session in mid-May, the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year missed the final nine, leaving some to question how quickly he'd be able to pick up his team's new playbook.

On Tuesday, Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens clarified comments he had previously made regarding the matter.

"It’s voluntary," Kitchens said of the OTAs. "He missed a lot – he understands that – but he did not miss as much as you really think because he has been studying every night just like these other guys; he just had not been here. Alright? He felt it was more compatible for his body to get in good shape and be at the best that he can be when he got here. Alright? Would I have like him here? Yes. No doubt about it. I want everybody here, but he does not have to be here. It is voluntary."

Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield also defended Beckham's extended absence, stating that he trusted his new star receiver to be ready when he needs to be.

"A professional's going to be a professional. He's going to train how he wants to. He's an elite athlete. That's how he does his stuff," Mayfield said of Beckham. "You've got to believe and trust in that. You've got to be able to trust him to be able to show up when he needs to and be there for his team."

Beckham, however, was on the field Tuesday and the prolific wide receiver didn't disappoint. Although the Browns were practicing without pads or tackling, he still managed to stand out, showcasing an early chemistry with Mayfield.

How did Beckham feel about his performance on Tuesday and how is his transition from New York to Cleveland progressing? We'll find out soon.
