Watch: University of Oklahoma's ‘Sooner Schooner’ flips over during touchdown celebration

The Sooner Schooner made its first appearance in 1964.

OKLAHOMA, USA — When celebrating takes a turn for the worst.

On Saturday, the University of Oklahoma's 'Sooner Schooner' was involved in an accident during the first half of their game against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

In true Sooner celebratory fashion, the 'Sooner Schooner' -- a horse drawn wagon--raced onto the field before making a sharp turn and toppling over. The crash threw the two people riding inside onto the field as the horses continued to run towards the end zone.

The Sooners organization took to Twitter after the incident stating that the cause of the accident was improper weight distribution in the rear of the wagon.

The organization also acknowledged that all parties involved were evaluated, including the horses, Boomer and Sooner, and were uninjured.

The Sooner Schooner made its first appearance in 1964.
