CLEVELAND — As the world opens back up, people stop working from home and start stepping out for social engagements, animal professionals worry that pet separation anxiety could be on the rise, and that's something we need to start thinking about sooner rather than later.
The difficult part of dealing with separation anxiety in our pets is largely that the issue comes up when we're gone, so it's hard to address it in the moment, but it can be managed if you know what to watch out for, according to Shaker Hound Academy founder and dog trainer Chris Ramsay.
Chris, who recently hosted a Tedx Talk on dog communication, joins me on my 3 Things to Know with Stephanie Haney podcast this week to talk through early warning signs, what pet parents can do to ease separation anxiety while we're still spending a lot of time at home, and ways to make our pets more comfortable when we're away. He also breaks down what well-circulated tips work, and which ones you may want to avoid.
