PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A Florida driver says his Samsung phone caused his car to catch fire.

It happened Tuesday evening in St. Lucie.

The driver of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata says he was charging his Samsung Galaxy S7 phone on the passenger seat when it burst into flames.

The 55-year-old man says he heard it pop just before it caught fire and was able to get out safely.

Fire officials say they’re still investigating, but the driver says it’s his phone’s fault.

This marks the second time a Samsung phone has been blamed for a car fire.

A St. Petersburg family claims a Samsung Note 7 caused a Labor Day fire that consumed their Jeep.
