As gas prices drop in Northeast Ohio, fewer Americans are filling up their tanks

According to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report, the average price for gas throughout Northeast Ohio is now 21 cents lower this week averaging $3.695 per gallon.

Gas prices continue to inch downward during peak summer travel season as Americans continue to change their normal driving habits amid record prices throughout the country.

According to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report, the average price for gas throughout Northeast Ohio is now 21 cents lower this week averaging $3.695 per gallon.

Average prices of the unleaded self-service gasoline in various areas:

We're seeing this trend not only yield results in Northeast Ohio, but throughout the country. The national average for a gallon of gas fell to $4.05, 67 cents lower than one month ago. 

According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), demand for gas dropped from 9.25 million barrels per day to 8.54 million barrels per day last week. This puts the rate at 1.24 million barrels less per day than last year and is in line with the numbers we saw during July 2020 when less people were on the road due to COVID-19 restrictions.
