Multiple injuries reported in early-morning Geauga County crash

Two vans collided in Middlefield Township, causing several injuries.

MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio — EDITOR'S NOTE: The video in the player below is from a previous, unrelated story.

Sheriff's deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating an early-morning crash in Geauga County that sent four people to the hospital.

Law enforcement officials say just before 5:30 a.m. Monday morning, a Ford Econoline Van traveling westbound on Nauvoo Road in Middlefield Township crashed into a Chevrolet Express van that had been heading southbound on Route 528. Law enforcement officials say the Chevy van had the right of way, and the Ford did not yield.

The Ford van t-boned the Chevy, causing it to go off the road and land on its side.

Three people were inside the Chevy van. The driver and one passenger were taken to the hospital by EMS. A child was flown to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford van was flown to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was the only occupant of that vehicle.

No word on any of their conditions. Officials are still investigating.
