I-90 east reopens following vehicle fire

Photos at one point showed the car smoking, but it appears as if the fire may have been put out.

CLEVELAND — A portion of Interstate 90 east that was closed due to a car fire Tuesday evening has reopened.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says the incident occurred in the eastbound lane near West 117th Street. Photos at one point showed the car smoking, but it appears as if the fire may have been put out.

A 40-year-old man was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition. No other details are known at this time.

For a time, traffic was backed up eastbound all the way to West 155th and westbound all the way to West 97th. Cleveland police say all eastbound lanes are still shut down at this time between Warren Road and West 117th.
