Vrooman Road bridge opens after years of construction

It's finally complete!

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — It has been a long time coming, but construction on the Vrooman Road bridge is now complete.

After years of road work, the bridge was dedicated at 11 a.m. Monday as it debuted with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The bridge is now open in both directions.

According to the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), the project was under construction since 2018, but planning and development went back as far as 1985.

The new road bridge is located over the Grand River, which is a State designated scenic river. The project realigns the intersection of Vrooman Road Bridge and the resurfacing of the existing roads between the new structure and I-90 in Perry and LeRoy Townships to State Route 84.

NOACA Board of Director member and Lake County Commissioner, John Hamercheck stated, “Many have asked and wondered if this day would come. And here we stand marking the project conclusion.....focusing on all the good that this bridge and overall Vrooman Road Project will do for our local communities, our county and region."

“After all the years of talk and delays the bridge and road is finally complete,” the Perry Joint Fire District posted on their Facebook page last week. “Great news.”
