Allegiant Air announces new flights from Cleveland Hopkins Airport to Virginia, South Carolina

The routes will be up and running in early June.

Northeast Ohioans looking for a vacation on the east coast now have a new means of travel.

Las Vegas-based airline Allegiant Air announced Tuesday it will offer two new flights from Cleveland Hopkins Airport to Norfolk/Virginia Beach Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina. The routes will be up and running in early June, with fares as low as $49 and $38, respectively.

"We are pleased Allegiant is growing again at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport," airport director Robert Kennedy said in a statement. "These new routes are beneficial to our leisure travelers. CLE has not had service to Norfolk International Airport since September 2008."

The new routes will operate twice a week, and now give Allegiant 12 total routes from Hopkins.

"We’re very excited to grow once again in Cleveland," Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue, said. "We’re certain that Cleveland-area travelers will love having a convenient, affordable option to enjoy all the sights and sounds these amazing destinations have to offer."

Allegiant is the second airline this week to announce flights from Cleveland to the South Carolina coast. Frontier did the same on Monday.
