Customers in other parts of the country are reporting similar issues.

CLEVELAND — EDITOR'S NOTE: The video in the player above is from a previous, unrelated story.

Spirit Airlines passengers at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Monday morning were forced to wait in long lines, after multiple flights were cancelled overnight.

Social media posts first reported the information on Monday morning. One user said his flight, along with all the others from Spirit Airlines, had been cancelled overnight, and passengers were met with long lines and few answers from the airline.

A quick check of flight status on the Spirit Airlines website shows flights to and from Atlanta, New York LaGuardia, Texas and Boston, as well as Cleveland, have been affected Monday.

Spirit Airlines says, it suffered travel disruptions over the weekend because of weather and what it calls "operational challenges."

Here is the full statement from Spirit Airlines:

"We're working around the clock to get back on track in the wake of some travel disruptions over the weekend due to a series of weather and operational challenges. We needed to make proactive cancellations to some flights across the network, but the majority of flights are still scheduled as planned.

"We understand how frustrating it is for our Guests when plans change unexpectedly, and we're working to find solutions. We ask Guests to actively monitor their emails and flight status before heading to the airport.

"As a team, we strive every day to get our Guests where they need to go on time. Our focus will continue to be on taking care of our Guests."

No word yet on how long it might take to get all the issues resolved.
