January is packed with airfare deals

Knowing how to find them is the trick.

CLEVELAND — January is one of the best months to find bargains on airfare... so how do you discover the deals?

Dollar Flight Club is a new service that is saving travelers hundreds of dollars, and we spoke with customers and the company's Chief Operating Officer to find out how they do it.

Eva D'Intino loves traveling, but struggles to find flights that fit her budget.

"I've seen so many beautiful places and just experienced cultures that I would have otherwise maybe only seen on TV or not at all," she says. "Airfare gets increasingly more expensive every year. And I think it's just so up and down and unpredictable so it makes it hard."

It was a challenge for her until an ad for Dollar Flight Club on Instagram caught her eye.  She decided to try it out.

"They had the best deals and especially local to Cleveland," she says. "So you just sign up and there's a free version and there's a paid version. And they always have good deals for the paid version."

An email alert from the company notified her about an amazing deal to Puerto Rico last October. She and her fiance spent $500 each to fly there back in July.

"So then we saw this deal pop up to go back to Puerto Rico, it was just over $200 a ticket so we decided to go back in October," she says. "And we saved so much money that we got married! We decided to elope! So it made it even more special because it's such a beautiful place!"

We spoke with several other locals who had similar stories. The steals come from computer and employees analyzing millions of airfare data points.

It's something Dollar Flight Club C.O.O. Kyle Maltz says they do every day.

"All our service is providing is saying hey look we'll take all that data in for you, we'll sift through these different places and we'll find the best deals leaving your local airport," he says.

The typical deal ranges from 40% - 90% off, which Maltz says saves $500 on average.

And while the service is free, if you're less flexible on your airport or a first class flier, Maltz says you get the best bang for your buck with the paid subscription for $69 or $99 per year.

Maltz says "Our premium members do get alerted first.you get to select a couple of different airports And the deals start coming in. It's a no-brainer especially if you plan on taking at least one trip."

We signed up and can confirm it's legit! This week we got an email from Dollar Flight Club alerting us to a round trip fare - Cleveland to Beijing, China for $393!  For those keeping score... that's usually a $900 ticket.
