United Airlines debuts new jet with extra legroom, storage at Akron-Canton Airport; VIDEO, GALLERY

Passengers can fly on the CRJ-550 from Akron-Canton to Chicago, enjoying first-class seating and increased amenities.

GREEN, Ohio — Passengers traveling on United Airlines from Akron-Canton Airport to Chicago are about to have a more comfortable flying experience. 

On Thursday, United Airlines announced that is now offering regional flights on its innovative Bombardier CRJ-550, a 50-seat aircraft featuring more legroom, plus greater storage space and increased amenities. 

According to United, the CRJ-550 is the world's only 50-seat regional jet to offer first-class seating and premium amenities, including: 

  • Space for every customer to bring a roller bag on board. 
  •  A self-serve refreshment center for United First customers featuring a wide assortment of snacks and beverages.
  • More overall legroom per seat than any other 50-seat aircraft flown by a U.S. airline.
  • The ability to stay connected while in flight with United Wi-Fi.

The aircraft is configured with 10 first-class, 20 economy-plus and 20 regular economy seats. Two large closets provide space for each passenger to store a carry-on. A self-serve refreshment center for United First passengers offers a variety of snacks and beverages.

Tickets on the CRJ-550 between Akron-Canton Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport are now available for purchase, and will complement United’s existing service from CAK to its hubs at Houston and New York/Newark.
