ALERT | High winds to 50 mph possible overnight for northeast Ohio

A strong cold front will bring high winds to all of northern Ohio tonight through Wednesday afternoon.

CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY from 7 p.m. this evening until 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

This advisory is in effect for the following counties: Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Erie, Huron, Medina, Ashland, Richland, Summit, Portage, Start, Trumbull, Mahoning, Holmes and Wayne Counties.

Also a FLOOD WATCH remains in effect for the same counties until 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.

* TIMING...This evening through Wednesday afternoon.

* WINDS...Wind gusts up to 50 mph likely with isolated gusts over 50 mph...especially for flat, open areas and near the lakeshore.

* IMPACTS...Very wet ground conditions along with strong gusty  winds may lead to a few trees to be easily blown down. Ice covered tree limbs may be weaker and blown down as well. Scattered power outages may be possible. Traveling with high profile vehicles may be difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory is issued for sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph or gusts between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of this magnitude can cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists should use caution especially motorists in high profile vehicles.
