ALERT | Wind gusts to 50 mph possible tonight

A strong cold front will move through northern Ohio tonight bringing high winds and more rain to the area.

A WIND ADVISORY has been issued through Friday morning, February 8, 2019.

CLEVELAND — A WIND ADVISORY has been issued for much of northern Ohio this evening through Friday morning.

Also, a FLOOD WATCH remains in effect until 4 a.m. Friday morning for all of northern Ohio.

The Wind Advisory will be in effect from 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon through 10 a.m. Friday morning for the following counties:

  • Lorain
  • Erie
  • Huron
  • Sandusky
  • Seneca
  • Ashland
  • Richland

The Wind Advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday evening through 10 a.m. Friday morning for the following counties:

  • Cuyahoga
  • Lake
  • Geauga
  • Ashtabula

Here's what you need to know from the National Weather Service:

* WINDS...West 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* TIMING...From early evening, through the overnight hours into Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power  lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory is issued for sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph or gusts between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of this magnitude can cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists should use caution especially motorists in high profile vehicles.
