ALERT | Winter Weather Advisory issued ahead of snow, freezing rain across NEO

A wintry mix of precipitation can be expected through Wednesday morning for all of northeast Ohio.

CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service says snow will overspread the area overnight and then transition to a period of freezing rain before changing to all rain sometime on Wednesday.

This will create hazardous driving conditions, especially during the Wednesday morning commute.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for the following counties at the following times: 

  • Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Lorain, Sandusky, Erie, Summit, Portage, Trumbull and Mahoning from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Medina, Huron, Richland, Ashland, Wayne and Stark from 3 a.m. until noon Wednesday.
  • Tuscarawas, Coshocton, Carroll, Columbiana from 1 a.m. until noon Wednesday
  • Holmes from midnight until noon Wednesday

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Here's what you need to know from the National Weather Service:

WHAT: Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze  expected.

WHERE: Portions of north central, northeast and northwest  Ohio.

 ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Plan on slippery road conditions. The  hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
