Get a free ticket to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium when you help to keep Lake Erie clean

Volunteer to clean-up trash at Edgewater Beach and get a free ticket to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium.

CLEVELAND – An adult general admission ticket to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium is a little under 20 dollars. However, you can get into the Aquarium for free if you volunteer to help keep Lake Erie clean.

It’s all part of the Alliance for the Great Lakes Adopt-A-Beach clean-up project. A group of volunteers will clean Edgewater Beach on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. You must volunteer at one of these events to get the free ticket to the Aquarium.

Crystal Davis, policy director for the Alliance for the Great Lakes, says 93 percent of the trash volunteers pick up on the beach is plastic related; which is harmful to the lake environment. Davis says keeping the beach clean is vital for all of us in Northeast Ohio.

“All of the debris and the things we find on the beach eventually make their way into the water and this is our source of drinking water,” says Davis. “This is so vital to our economy and so many other things so it’s important to keep our water, our greatest natural resource locally, clean and healthy.”

Another way people can help is by purchasing beer at Terrestrial Brewing Company. The brewpub is donating one dollar for each pint sold of their “I Love It When I Save the Turtles Porter” to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium’s efforts to boost the number of spotted turtles in Northeast Ohio.
