CLEVELAND — Have your umbrellas on standby today and Wednesday. The remnants of what was Hurricane Barry this past weekend have moved onshore and will not only provide us with rain and storm chances, but also a good deal of clouds. Those clouds and showers will suppress temperatures into the mid/upper 80s on today. A few of the thunderstorms that develop could contain torrential rain, gusty winds, lots of lightning and perhaps some small hail.

End of Week: HEAT WAVE...90s (Temps) & 100s (Heat Index)
A big ridge in our jet stream along with a dominate southerly flow will allow for tropical heat and humidity to invade Northeast Ohio. This in turn will lead to widespread low/mid 90s across much of the Buckeye State Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday! Instability/pop up showers and storms are expected from time to time during this stretch of days. Heat index values, or how hot it will feel to your skin, will push over 100°F! Those with upper respiratory and breathing issues may experience shortness of breath and difficulties.

Just a few heads up into this Heat Wave:

Make sure you are staying WELL HYDRATED.
Consider wearing light colored and loose clothes.
Check on your elderly neighbors.
Double check to make sure your AC in your car and home are working properly.
Enjoy time at the pool to stay cool.
