We finally had a chance to dry out and quiet down Thursday as high pressure briefly takes control of our forecast. We'll remain quiet overnight with partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid to upper 20s.

We'll see more clouds mix with the sun for your Friday with temps just a touch or two cooler as they reach to near 40.

A potent storm system will rapidly develop in the central and southern Plains late Friday and head northeastward towards the Great Lakes. We'll see heavy rain and severe weather in the Tennessee Valley on Saturday and blizzard conditions on the back side of this storm in the colder air. For us, we'll remain on the warmer side of this storm and we'll notice winds begin to pick up throughout the day Saturday. Showers will develop during the afternoon and evening with a few bursts of heavier rain possible Saturday night.

Temps will be the big story outside of the rain--we'll remain in the 40s for much of the day Saturday before temps surge Saturday evening into the overnight. We'll likely rise into the 50s and perhaps near 60 before the strong cold front moves through early Sunday morning. We'll likely see a line of heavier rain move through with the front and even a few thunderstorms.

Sunday will feature temps that plummet into the 30s with VERY WINDY conditions. While it's an early look, winds could gust over 50 mph at times as this storm system moves on out.

We return to a colder pattern for the rest of February into the beginning of March as it looks right now, but the good news is that we look DRIER...and we need it given how much rain we've seen over the last month and a half!
