Freeze your pants off, literally — Meteorologist Matt Standridge uses freezing temps to create "frozen man"

There are lots of cool experiments you can do in the cold air we're experiencing in NE Ohio, like freezing your clothes!

CLEVELAND — It is so cold here in NE Ohio that your clothes can freeze and stand on their own!

We have stayed below freezing for the past few days and as Arctic air continues to dive south, we’ll stay below average for at least another week. With temperatures so cold, there are several fun weather experiments you can do that are impossible the rest of the year!

One experiment you can try is freezing your clothes. Meteorologist Matt Standridge took advantage of 10 degree weather to freeze a pair of his pants and his WKYC t-shirt. After soaking them in water and letting them free for about 20 minutes, the pair of pants was able to support themselves.

The ice crystals fortified the jeans and they could stand without collapsing. You can add a shirt too! A shirt does not take as long because of the thinner material.

As soon as you bring your “ice person” inside, it will begin to slowly collapse as the ice melts.

It’s very cold outside, but you might as well take advantage it!
