Heat Advisory issued: Heat indexes could hit 105°

Summer has definitely arrived!

The summer sizzle will scorch our region with dangerously hot temperatures all weekend.

The National Weather Service says heat index values will range between 100-104 degrees from midday Saturday through the evening hours.

This is why a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon until 10 p.m. Saturday.

“It is possible heat index values could briefly exceed 105 degrees in Northwest Ohio and larger urban areas” Saturday afternoon.

“A Heat Advisory means the combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” the National Weather Service says. “Drink plenty of fluids. Stay in air-conditioned rooms. Stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.”

It’s advised to wear loose-fitting, light-weight clothing, too.

If you have to spend time outdoors during the excessive heat, it’s suggested to reschedule any strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Also, an Air Quality Advisory for ground-level ozone has been issued for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit Counties through Sunday, July 2, 2018.

"Air quality levels will be 'Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups' during this period," according to The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA).
