July 2018 becomes 6th wettest on record in Cleveland

Several days of heavy rain during the month on July propelled the Cleveland area into the 6th most wettest July on record.

CLEVELAND — This year, the Clevelend area saw 6.68 inches of rain, or 3.22 inches more than a normal according to the National Weather Service in their latest monthly update which makes July 2018 the 6th wettest on record.

Several active storm systems hit the area and brought significant amounts of rain including July 3 when 1.22 inches of rain fell at the airport, July 5 with 2.03 inches, July 23 with 1.12 inches and July 26 with .92 inches.

The most rain ever recorded at Cleveland Hopkins International during the month of July was 9.12 inches in 1992. Last year, Cleveland measured 2.47 inches of rain for the entire month.

By comparison, the Akron Canton Regional Airport saw a mere 1.65 of rain in July 2018 or nearly two and half inches less than normal.
