More than 14,000 lose power due to storms in Northeast Ohio

Most of the customers affected were in Portage and Summit Counties.

High winds and rain knocked out power for thousands across Northeast Ohio Friday evening.

Most of the customers affected are in Portage and Summit Counties. The National Weather Service said wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour have been detected, and there were several reports of fallen trees.

Tornado sirens also went off in Kent for a brief period of time after police were alerted to the presence of a possible funnel cloud in the area. The NWS did not issue a Tornado Warning.

Most power was fully restored by Saturday morning.
