More than 6,200 without power as storms batter Northeast Ohio

Some customers should expect to have their power back on by 5 p.m., while others may have to wait another two hours.

Strong thunderstorms hit much of Northeast Ohio Wednesday afternoon, causing more than 6,200 people to lose power.

Cleveland Public Power reported roughly 1,200 outages from Holmes to Euclid Aves. and from Glenside to Wayside Roads. Crews are currently working to restore services.

Meanwhile, FirstEnergy says the bulk of its more than 5,000 outages (more than 4,200) occurred in Cuyahoga County, where a flood advisory remains in effect following a severe thunderstorm warning that expired around 4:15 p.m. Hundreds more customers are in the dark in Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Portage, Stark, and Summit Counties.
