Day of thunderstorms leads to downed trees, power outages across Northeast Ohio

An 80-year-old tree came down in Old Brooklyn, smashing a car and damaging parts of two homes.

CLEVELAND — After a full day of storms across many parts of Northeast Ohio, there are reports of both power outages and damage due to high winds.

As of midnight on Thursday, FirstEnergy is reporting more than 4,500 outages in Cuyahoga County.

According to 3News Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling, overnight there may be a couple rumbles of thunder, but the severe threat should diminish. Additional storms are likely to fire up Thursday. Betsy adds that our weather team is also watching the Florida coast for the impacts from Tropical Storm Elsa.
