Small earthquake rocks South Carolina community

The quake only registered as a magnitude 1.8 but multiple people have reported feeling it.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — Yet another earthquake has been registered in South Carolina according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake, which registered at magnitude 1.8 was reported around 6 a.m. in the Centerville area of Summerville - roughly 84 miles from Columbia. Specifically, the data provided by the USGS shows the quake to have been centered just north of Dorchester Road in the Ashborough East neighborhood.

The quake was estimated to have a depth of about 2.6 miles. While the recorded magnitude is considered fairly small for an earthquake - and below what most people would be able to feel - the USGS has received three reports online from people who claim to have felt it.
