LIVE BLOG: Widespread damage, flooding from Sunday storms

The WKYC weather team is working to keep you informed as severe storms move across the region.

Here is a recap of how Sunday's storms unfolded...

9:00 p.m.:

The Trumbull County Sheriff's office dispatch center says much of Trumbull County saw widespread damage, prompting power outages and road closures across the area. Warren, Brookfield Township, and Southington Township saw some of the heaviest damage, including several trees down on homes and power lines knocked down. Widespread flooding is also reported across the county.

Downed lines prompted ODOT to close parts of US 422 eastbound at SR 305. The road is still closed as Century Link cleans up the lines and restores power. Take SR 305 to SR 45 as your detour. 

As of late Sunday, First Energy reports Southington Township has at least 173 customers without power. The city of Warren is reporting 1,164 customers without power. 

6:00 p.m.:

6:00 p.m: 

Kelsey Swanson of Warren sent of photos of damage to a shopping plaza in her area. 

5:30 p.m.:

According to FirstEnergy, more than 20,000 people are without power in Trumbull County.

The areas suffering the greatest number of outages are:

  • Liberty Township - 2,804
  • Warren - 3,387
  • Brockfield Township - 3,450

Power is expected to be restored around 8:30 p.m. To view FirstEnergy's outage map, click here.  

5:10 p.m.: 

WKYC's Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling has given the "severe clear" to the state of Ohio, early Sunday evening. However, flooding remains a concern through Monday, June 17.

5:00 p.m.:

The Trumbull County Sheriff is reporting damage across the county from the tornado warned storm. The cities of  Vienna, Brookfield, Hubbard, Southington, and Warren have reported damage of varies degrees. 

 The National Weather Service has not yet released any confirmation and is still gathering information. 

WKYC was sent the photo above by a viewer. It is believed to be a damaged barn in Warren, OH. 

4:20 p.m.: A tornado warning was issued for Trumbull County.

The warning expired at  5:15 p.m.

Tornado warnings were issued for Portage, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Summit Counties around 3:30 p.m. The warnings remained in effect until 4 p.m. All of them have since expired.
