However, a pair of storm systems will spread scattered showers and thunderstorms from the Great Lakes to the mid-Atlantic. While much of the interior Deep South will be free of rain, a few thunderstorms will develop across the Southeast and Gulf coast, as well as Florida.

Texas will receive a break from the extreme heat and return to more seasonable hot weather. Across the northern and central Plains, showers and thunderstorms will develop, with possible severe weather across Nebraska and Kansas.

Outside of a brief afternoon thunderstorm across western Montana and New Mexico, much of the West will be dry. It will be very hot across much of interior California.
