Snow showers and heavier squalls will stream off of the Great Lakes. Heavy snow and ice is forecast to pound Maine before drier weather moves in overnight.
Cooler air will spread along the southern Atlantic Seaboard, with showers in store for central and southern Florida. Tranquil, sunny weather is in store for much of the Plains and South.
Meanwhile, a major storm will plow into California with heavy rain, feet of mountain snow and locally damaging winds. Flash flooding and mudslides can occur, especially in the burn scar areas.
Snow will also fall across the Northwest.
